When the Opportunity Arises
Looking through an old sketch book, I came across this wee drawing of our son Dave. It was quickly captured using a black biro pen. Later, I added the green collage to strengthen the image; to emphasise the sense of presence that I felt in that moment.
It took me back to the days when the family were still at home and there was always somebody sitting, maybe reading or just looking out of the window. My heart would be touched and I would start to draw. This was before mobile phones had cameras. I feel very thankful for those days.
Thinking back to understand what motivated me I can see it was more than practicing my drawing skills. It was to do with the joy I felt in being with the people in my life. My way of showing how much I cared about them.
