Over the past 18 months I have been loving painting portraits of friends. It began simply as a dip into another genre of painting, but it has now developed into a passion which has quite taken me by surprise.
I have decided to explore the different ways I draw and paint people using various media; looking back at drawings from the past as well as current studies and experiments to develop.
As I do this, I will take a deeper dive into this desire to focus on faces; pondering on what it is that is motivating me and where the inspiration is coming from.
This little picture of the heads of two girls was quickly sketched during a visit to my mother in her nursing home to show her how one could draw with water colour paint. She had always been interested in art and watched carefully as the paint flowed from the tip of the brush on to the card.
